A FIRE at a car showroom in Grays in the early hours of this morning is being treated as suspicious by the fire and police service.
The blaze at Mini and Acy Exports Limited in Globe Industrial Estate, on Towers Road is the second time the showroom has been attacked in a matter of weeks after it was targeted on December 17.
Two fire crews attended shortly before 3.30am and reported that several vehicles were fully alight at the premises Police have confirmed six vehicles were damaged in the blaze, and that no one was injured. Ten vehicles were destroyed in last month’s attack.
A third fire crew was requested not long after for extra water and manpower.
Wearing breathing apparatus, crews used two hose reels and one main jet to extinguish the fire by 4.03am.
Police are liaising with the fire service over the cause of both blazes and are linking them.
Ds Jim Adams, of Grays CID, said: “We would like to try and establish whether there could be any reason behind these attacks. Also we would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who may know someone that may have come home smelling of petrol or smoke in the early hours of the morning.”
