DANCING on Ice Star Danny Young will not be starring in Aladdin at the Civic Hall in Grays.
Instead, Eurovision star Josh Dubovie, will take the lead role in the Theatre Productions Ltd show.
The theatre company says Mr Young, who is also famous for his role as Warren in Coronation Street, will be appearing in panto in Weymouth instead.
The starring role is particularly apt for rising star Josh as he is now the patron of St Luke’s Hospice, which the panto is supporting this year.
The 19-year-old Laindon lad represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in May, but came last.
Aladdin kicks off with a gala dinner at the Civic Hall on December 30 then starts its theatre run on Sunday January 2 to Saturday January 8.
It will feature 80s pop star David Van Day as the evil Abanazer and his wife Sun Beauty editor Sue Moxley, as The Slave of the Ring.
