A THURROCK lad is soaring towards global superstardom.

Ian Koromah, a talented rapper from Chafford Hundred, has recently released his single I Wanna Rock.

It’s been played on Radio 1, in nightspots around Europe and its video has clocked up more than 725,000 views on YouTube.

When the single came out a fortnight ago, Ian, whose music handle is Maxsta, was receiving messages of good luck on Twitter from global stars such as Tinchy Stryder.

On Twitter, he is followed by more than 20,000 people.

Ian, 20, originally came from East Ham before moving to Thurrock with his mum and dad.

Earlier this year, he tragically lost his brother, Kevin, who died in his sleep aged just 14.

A couple of months later, he said: “That day I became a beast …for me, failure is not an option now, it’s not in my vocabulary. “The last thing I want is my brother to look down and see me wasting my opportunity.”

Ian’s career has taken off since he signed to Jamal Edwards’ Just Jam label.

Jamal discovered artists such as Dizzee Rascal and Chipmunk and made them stars by filming them on online TV channel SBTV.

Ian is the latest in a line of “grime” rappers. Many of them learn their trade through “rap battles”, meetings that require performers to think fast as they string words together, often to attack an opponent.

Ian, as Maxsta, also has an album on the way. It is thought I Wanna Rock, which as it came out last Monday was a “hot” track on iTunes, is a taste of what’s to come from this talented Thurrock artist.
