MARC Harrison is pleased with how Tilbury’s preparations are going ahead of the upcoming Isthmian North season.
The Dockers recorded a 2-1 win over Hollands & Blair at Chadfields on Saturday, with George Sykes and Toby Aromolaran finding the back of the net.
And Harrison is overjoyed with his players’ fitness levels.
“All we have done so far in pre-season is work on fitness, so we’re not expecting too much too soon from the players,” said the Tilbury boss.
“We are only three weeks into pre-season and it’s all about getting minutes into the players’ legs.
“Pre-season has been broken up into stages and we’re getting through it.
“I’m really pleased with the players’ fitness levels at the moment.”
Harrison has made a number of changes to his squad since last term ended in April.
But he is confident in the squad he has at his disposal.
“Some players became available when I didn’t think they would,” admitted Harrison.
“I think I can help them to reach their potential and we now have a squad with good depth.
“Players are competing with each other for starting places and it will be interesting to see who is in our starting line-up for the first game of the season.”
Tilbury continue their preparations by facing Grays Athletic on Saturday.
The two Isthmian North sides will go head-to-head for the Stan Veness Trophy at Chadfields.
