THURROCK is a bustling and diverse borough on the rise.
From jobs and industry, to world class art and picturesque countryside, this corner of South Essex is fast becoming one of the jewels in the county’s crown.
In the east of the borough, there’s plenty of heritage to explore with the fascinating Coalhouse Fort in East Tilbury and 16th Century Tilbury Fort, just along the
River Thames.
In the north, there’s the stunning Orsett Hall, a Grade II listed country hotel, boasting attractive grounds and first class accommodation and restaurants, set between the quaint and historic villages of Horndon-on-the-Hill and Orsett.
In the west, the recently developed High House Production Park has thrust Thurrock into the artistic spotlight. This is where the Royal Opera House design and build their
mind-blowing sets, and soon, where they will store and create the fantastic costumes for
their world-famous Covent Garden productions. The park is also the setting of the cutting edge Backstage Centre, a state-of-the-art rehearsal venue for some of the
globe’s biggest stars.
Add to that, the array of shops and restaurants on offer at the ever-evolving intu Lakeside Shopping Centre and the fast-growing superport DP World London Gateway
on the Thames, and you’ll soon see why Thurrock is becoming the envy of the
country’s eastern region.
