A BACKGROUND to lace making was the subject for the Guild’s May meeting.
Anita Gentry gave a very interesting history of the development of lace making from very early times to present day.
She displayed some of her work. Jenny White, our chairman, gave a vote of thanks. The lace competition was won by Trudi English.
The ramblers enjoyed a five-mile walk to see the bluebells in the woods at Langdon Hills. Their next walk, on June 5, will explore Hanningfield Reservoir.
Members were asked to sponsor Barbara Purser, who is taking part in the Race for Life.
Jean Nightingale will be speaking at our next meeting on the life of Joyce Grenfell, at 7.30pm, on June 12 in Corringham Village Hall.
