MEMBERS who attended the Thurrock Writer’s Festival, held at Grays Library on Saturday, May 18, had a great day.
Copies of their Anthology were on sale and it was good to mix and talk with other authors.
The TWC held a workshop, presented by chairman Joy Ridgewell and head of history at Palmer’s College Cindy Barber.
People of various ages who attended were given a title and the competition was to write a story in 20 minutes.
These were judged by the entrants themselves and the winner was Wendy Mach with “I Wish it Had Never Happened”.
The short story competition, set by Grays Library, entitled “Thurrock”, saw first prize go to Daniel Chinnon with “Thor’s Rock”. The runner-up was “Wish You Were Here” by Karen Collibee.
Of the members of the TWC, Steve Davis won first prize in the poetry competition and Joy Ridgewell won third prize. All winners received book tokens presented by Waterstones.
