Our July meeting is the birthday party with a theme this year of Those Were the Days and it is hoped all members will dress in some way in 1940s style – those who don’t will be fined!
Appropiate music, mementoes and decorations are being prepared for it. Names of hostesses who volunteered to welcome our visitors were taken. A buffet for the party will be prepared by Brenda Marrow and Dot Gore.
We have received a card from Alice Bourne, an ex-member who moved away some years ago, thanking us for sending her a card for her 100th birthday.
This month’s speaker was Brian Carline, who has visited us before, and as usual gave an interesting and amusing talk.
This time it was of his early life being brought up in the North. President Doreen Kelly thanked him for the talk.
Barbara Harris won the competition for a pork/bacon recipe and Iris Glover had the flower of the month. Win Reekie won the raffle and Sharon Newton won the instant raffle.
