THE June meeting of Grays (Afternoon) Townswomen’s Guild was their summer celebration day and chairman Audrey Haines welcomed guests Cllr Wendy Curtis, together with Rev Darren Barlow, Rector, Grays Thurrock Team Ministry and Rural Dean, representatives from the South Essex Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds, Thurrock Parkinson’s Support Group and the Salvation Army.
Following a very short business meeting an excellent tea prepared by the committee was served.
During the afternoon lively entertainment was provided by singer Ray Durrant, members joining in with many of the songs. A vote of thanks was given by Sheila Kempster.
The guild’s Lightcraft Section craft stall was very well supported. The raffle was drawn and members given information on future outings and events.
The next meeting of the Guild is on July 24 at 1.30pm at the Methodist Church hall, in Hathaway Road, Grays, when the speaker will be Ron Kennedy, and the competition a railway souvenir.
