GOLLY – that so-called crossing consultation has stirred up a bit of trouble, hasn’t it? It seems we have a choice of Thurrock, Thurrock or Thurrock!
A very heated meeting at the council last week, but one good thing seems to have come out – all parties are united in opposing the plans.
Stephen and Jackie don’t want it, the council says None of the Above and the community is incensed that all roads lead to Thurrock, carving up our green belt and not considering alternatives. United opposition is called for and I passionately agree.
This column has always called for people and communities to work together and in this case we appear to have a common cause.
Strangely enough, we are building bridges to one another when we stand together for what we believe in.
In Thurrock what unites us is far greater than what divides us, regardless of outlook, background or even political affiliation.
Here again comes another call to stand up and be counted, to work together for the common good and to lobby those who govern us to listen to us.
The bigger the barrier we breach the better the bridge we build. Let’s start building a better borough.
