I REFER to the piece by Cllr Shane Hebb last week regarding the shameful state of the parks in the Thurrock area.

I have to agree whole-heartedly with his comments, particularly with the amount of litter that is left behind.

I recently stayed in Harrogate, where their parks department deserve a pat on the back for their amazing gardens and cleanliness.

The displays were absolutely stunning – Thurrock Council should pay a visit to see how parks should be maintained.

But like everything about this borough, there is no pride in the area anymore and most people just don’t care.
