RE: Jackie Doyle-Price’s comments about Syria in last week’s Gazette.
I feel it is important to counter our MP’s disgust at the vote in Parliament on Syria.
It is called democracy in action – the vast majority of British people were against military action.
I would point out she is there to represent our views not her own nor that of her Government and I would be astonished if the people of Thurrock were somehow different to the rest of the country.
No-one cannot be moved by the plight of the Syrian people but sending cruise missiles on the pretext of punishing Assad is disingenuous nonsense.
The only result of such idiocy would be to draw Israel and Iran into the conflict and then Russia and China, risking Armageddon.
The only way to solve the plight of the Syrian people is through strong diplomatic means and by engaging the Russians and the Chinese to bring Assad to the negotiating table not through jingoistic hue and cry.
