PEOPLE at the top of the council are paid very good salaries but I’m not so sure we get value for money.
I live in East Tilbury. The roads go unrepaired, like Coronation Avenue, which has potholes and is also a bus route.
I’m sure East Tilbury is not alone in not being served well by our council.
The food bins yet again have been uncollected – if this is an exercise in saving money then I think we have to be grateful they don’t run big business.
Who among us also noticed the contribution from our council tax to Essex Police had increased, yet some police stations closed.
If anything the contribution to them should have be reduced.
I can’t be alone in saying I can’t remember the last time I saw a police officer around our area.
These are services we all pay for yet don’t get.
I’m starting to think we’re being taken for fools.
There is no time in history when councils have collected so much money from us via council taxes yet it doesn’t seem to be completely used for the betterment of the people who pay it.
Some how the roles seem to have reversed and they tell us what to do and not ask what we want.
Does anyone agree?
