THURROCK Tech is supposedly being pulled down as a new site in the town centre will attract people there and help regeneration.
This was bad news for me as a Woodside resident but, despite there being absolutely nothing concrete offered in consideration of the pressures on schools, healthcare, roadlinks and other services here, I was happy to agree that more people visiting Grays town centre during the day, and for evening classes, could only be good thing.
Now that another prime site on the road to the Grays Riviera is available for redevelopment, how could this be used to complement the increased college footfall, and cement this area as a social space?
Maybe a restaurant, cafe, bar, shops, gym, five-a-side football pitch (replacing the old one at Grays Athletic football club), tennis club, bowls club, knitting club, youth club, old people’s club, toddler club, working man’s club, some more shops, a market place, paddling pool, swimming pool or a nice public garden.
No. Damn flats.
I don’t expect Las Ramblas but for God’s sake! Is someone taking the mickey out of us?
Because if they’re not then there are people not doing their job properly who need to be removed.
DAVID SMITH Gordon Road, Grays.
