SO Lakeside shopping centre has now got its permission to expand and build even more shops and cafes.
But one very important point was not mentioned, that being if any more roads have been factored into the equation.
As any local resident knows, Lakeside becomes jampacked at Bank Holiday times and Christmas, to the point that if there ever was an emergency at the centre, local emergency services would not be able to get there.
It really is very important that new roads are built to facilitate the movement of traffic in and out of Lakeside and an exit on to the A13, Southend-bound, is absolutely necessary.
Also, it has been mentioned that Lakeside are going to demolish car parks to build these new shops, but it strikes me to be a very silly move to get rid of parking spaces when expansion will bring in even more cars.
Has this idea really been thought through and do we really need more shops and restaurants? I don’t think so.
