MY aged parents live in The Sorrells, Stanford-le-Hope overlooking what was once a roundabout and is now in the process of road building work.
While I understand that closing The Sorrells is a necessity, it would seem no provision has been made for people who rely on buses.
Now the nearest bus stop is situated in Corringham town centre, a long walk for an 85-year-old lady and 92-year-old man.
Nor are they the only people of advanced years living in the area.
With the winter looming this is going to put a huge strain on the elderly who rely on public transport.
At the moment it is forecast the building work will take approximately four months to complete, but I think it is safe to assume it will take a good deal longer – I have yet to see a job completed in the time predicted.
Would the council not consider temporarily rerouting the bus route so buses can stop a lot closer to The Sorrells than Corringham town centre?
Or perhaps it could consider offering minibus services free of charge.
