I WAS most disturbed to read about the planning committee’s decision to pass a very controversial application.
I am talking about the chapel in North Road and the vote of consent to the planning application for flats and the digging up of the consecrated ground.
If I remember rightly, this subject came up a few years ago and a petition was going around to which I signed to stop any interference with the ground.
This will have an adverse effect on Labour when voting times come along, rest assured, that application should never have been passed.
I am not an over religious person, but I am a firm believer in the last resting place, whether people put flowers on the graves or not, that ground is holy and you cannot remove that.
This is disgusting behaviour, worse than what teenage yobs get up to.
As for all churches and church goers in South Ockendon, I am disgusted you are not running campaigns against this.
I am very disgruntled with the planning committee, if that’s what you could call them – I can think of other names that would suit!
