FIVE-HUNDRED proposed houses are to be built on green belt land in Aveley – how can this sort of development even be considered when the needs and quality of life of the residents of Aveley have clearly not been taken into account?

The village has limited public transport services with no mainline railway station and a High Street that is already overrun with cut-through traffic from Lakeside.

There is just one doctor’s surgery, primary and secondary school. The fact that the development is being considered on green belt land further undermines this project.

Yet Thurrock Council’s planning committee seems to have ignored these facts and is only concerned with a few benefits, for Grays Athletic FC and Treetops School, benefits that the residents of Aveley will never utilise.

Why consider giving some people more recreational facilities at the detriment of taking this same service away from others?

Consider the transport gridlock, more pressure on an already overburdened doctor’s surgery, not enough school places to cope with the extra influx of residents, along with going against the reason why green belt land was put in place and this all overwhelmingly creates a case to say no to such a development.
