You can be forgiven for not knowing of the existence of a local organisation formed three years ago to represent the diverse faith groups of our borough.
There are currently representatives from the Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, Anglican, Catholic and Pentecostal groups on the steering committee, which is led by local church leader, Russell Godward.
Thurrock Faith Matters has recently appointed a vibrant young support and development worker, Amena Ahmed, who is keen to see faith matters much higher on the Thurrock agenda.
She is based at the Beehive and can be contacted there on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You will shortly be seeing displays in the Civic Offices giving you more information.
The main group not represented on Thurrock Faith Matters is “none of the above”!
If that’s you…we’d love to see you.
You will typically be a person who cares about our community and believes in something or someone who can make a difference in our world and the lives of its people.
You may not belong to a church, temple, synagogue, mosque or gurdwara yet, but you will know that faith matters, particularly in Thurrock.
My boss is really keen to meet up with people like you, so why not give us a call? Let’s show Thurrock that we can make a difference together!
