HUNDREDS of Thurrock schoolchildren have been learning about sustainable travel.
Ten schools have been spoken to by Thurrock Council’s road safety team, who delivered sustainable travel show One Road, Many Users between November 12 and 19.
The lively show featured dancers and live music, with youngsters quizzed and encouraged to remember sustainable travel and road safety facts.
Year 6 to Year 10 pupils were treated to lights, music and quiz shows with the chance of winning prizes. One pupil from each school will win an iPod presented using Local Sustainable Transport Fund money to help encourage sustainable travel to and from school.
The schools involved were William Edwards, Stifford Clays Primary, St Clere’s School, Gable Hall School, Woodside Academy, Belmont Castle Academy, St Thomas of Canterbury, Hathaway Academy, Harris Academy and Hassenbrook Academy.
The Mayor of Thurrock Tony Fish attended a performance to show his support with every pupil asked to make a travel pledge for 2013.
