THE first Karis Angel Ball was a fantastic evening, and a fitting celebration of the life of Karis May Darling.
For those of you who don’t know, Karis died suddenly, aged 12, almost five years ago after contracting lethal bug, streptococcus A infection.
Remarkably in her death she saved the lives of five people by donating her organs.
Her lovely parents Kerri and John speak so fondly and openly about the girl they treasured and plainly state that she was that sort of child, one who would do anything for anyone.
And what better gift could she give than the gift of life, not just once, but five times? Last Saturday, her parents, who in the aftermath of the tragedy set up the successful Karis May Darling Found- ation, hosted the first Karis Angel Ball and I was honoured to be invited along with my wife Katy.
The positivity on the night was electrifying and the warmth shared among those present was a real tribute to a girl who obviously meant so much to so many.
The spirit of her parents is plain to see, and they deserve so much credit for organising such a wonderful evening, which will live long in the memory, just like Karis May.
