THURROCK took time to remember its war heroes today at remembrance services across the borough.
In Grays, more than 300 people gathered at the war memorial in the High Street to pay their respects and lay wreaths. A similar number were also in attendance in Tilbury at the memorial in Civic Square.
Stanford-le-Hope, Aveley and South Ockendon were just some of the other towns who took part in ceremonies.
In Tilbury, wreaths were laid by councillors, Scouts, members of the Army and Navy, police and fire service. Pupils from Tilbury Pioneer Academy also paid their respects.
To begin the service, wreath bearers marched behind Tilbury veterans from the RBL around the square, and were welcomed to the memorial by the Tilbury Band.
