A wide range of council and community services are available at the newly-opened Purfleet Community Centre.
The grand opening was attended by the Leader of Thurrock Council, Rob Gledhill, and Deputy Mayor, Tunde Ojetola – who also judged a children’s fancy dress competition.
Residents can count on a team of volunteers to support residents get online, find local information or even choose a book from the library.
The day included a community clean up, supported by the Thurrock Council housing team. In addition, a skip was provided by the hub to help keep the area tidy.
Mr Gledhill, said: “This was my first visit to the Purfleet Hub and I am really impressed. As a former Garrison Estate resident I know residents will greatly benefit from the services provided.
The event was attended by families and residents from across Purfleet. One mum was particularly keen to thank the hub for the support they provide “I moved into the area last year, and I cannot thank the hub enough for helping me keep in touch with local events. I pass information on to other mums, so this is a great network – thank you!”
