This week in Down Memory Lane, we take a look back at Palmer’s College through the years.
In the first photo, we see both the boys and girls school in 1876. Both boys and girls were educated at Palmer’s.
The top picture is of the boys school and the bottom photo is of the girls school.
The second image shows the small school to the right of the St Peter & St Paul’s church Grays in the mid 1800s.
The school then moved to a new site on the corner of Chadwell Road and Southend road in 1874.
The girls stayed in their building until 1931 when a new girls school was opened a mile or so away in Chadwell Road.
The third photo shows a picture of the new girls school building from 1936.
The building today is a sixth form college used by many youngsters in Thurrock.
