A man who drove his car at two people after an argument outside a pub has been convicted of GBH.
Both victims were injured in the incident, which happened back on October 26, 2019, with one of them being thrown into another parked car and then onto the floor.
It happened after JJ Margetts was told to leave the Foxhound pub in High Road, Orsett, after he was barred following an incident.
Around 15 minutes later, Margetts returned to the pub alone, went back inside and began to argue with one of the men who had helped remove him from the pub.
The argument moved outside where Margetts, 34, got into his car and struck the man and woman, clipping the man’s leg but sending the woman onto the bonnet and windscreen, into another parked car and then onto the floor where she lost consciousness.
She was taken to hospital and received a treatment for a cut to her head, broken fingers, bruising, an cuts to her arms and stomach.
The man who was hit had sustained bruising to his right thigh.
Police visited Margetts home address in Whitmore Avenue, Grays, the following day where they found his car damaged and a wing mirror hanging off.
CCTV had also showed him getting into his vehicle and driving along High Road.
He was arrested and later charged.
Following a trial at Basildon Crown Court, he was found guilty yesterday (Wednesday 23 June) of GBH without intent, ABH, and dangerous driving.
He is due to be sentenced at the same court in August.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Owen Clements, said: “JJ Margetts put those he struck with his car in danger and it is fortunate their injuries were not more serious.
“His driving was reckless and endangered those around him.
“I hope this conviction will help the people he injured move forward.”
