A TV star and drag queen is set to meet fans and wow families at a top Southend seafront attraction.

Crystal and other drag queens will be performing at Adventure Island on Saturday night.

Park bosses say the appearance was arranged as part of the Southend Pride celebrations, despite the event later being cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

Crystal, who is originally from Canada but has lived in the UK for around 10 years, starred in the first series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK on BBC iPlayer in 2019.

Mellissa Aylott and Lee Fry, Stockvale Managers and Events Team at Adventure Island said it's set to be a great show.

They said: "Originally we booked the fabulous Crystal from Rupaul’s Drag Race UK to join in with our celebrations as part of Southend Pride. Sadly, Southend Pride, an event Stockvale supported wholeheartedly, was cancelled this year.

"As a Queens award winning company for Enterprise in promoting opportunity, it is important for us to take steps to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ staff members as well as our guests and Pride provides the opportunity for us to do just that.

"When the plans for us to celebrate pride came into place our events team – which consists of LGBTQIA+ members – immediately got to work planning. One of the most exciting tasks was the booking of Crystal and her Haus to come and perform for us.

"Pride is an inexplicable expression of joy and to have such a prolific member of the community leading us in our celebration is very rewarding. We cannot wait to have the queens to celebrate with us.

"Regarding her routine, best you come along and find you for yourself. Everyone is welcome and it’s suitable for all!”
