A TEENAGE boy was hit by a bus outside Basildon bus station this afternoon, it has been confirmed.
The teenager, who was rushed to hospital, was hit by a bus on Southernhay around 3pm.
A police cordon is in place at the scene.
It surrounds a bus and a set of traffic lights.
An air ambulance landed at the scene, but the teenager was taken to hospital by land.

A statement from First Buses, reads: "This afternoon a pedestrian was in collision with one of our buses on Sothernhay, the emergency services attended and the road was closed whilst the incident was investigated.
"No injuries were sustained to our driver or travelling passengers, a person at the scene was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital for further observation”
A spokesman from the East of England ambulance service, added: "An ambulance, rapid response vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended to a road traffic accident in Southernhay in Basildon just after 3pm today.
"A teenage boy was transported by land to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals for further assessment and treatment.”
Essex Police was contacted for comment.
