FIRE crews were rushed to Tilbury Docks last night after a blaze broke out on board a ship.
Firefighters were called to the docks at 8.09pm reports of a scrap metal fire in the hold of a docked vessel.
Crews worked with the team at Tilbury Docks to remove scrap metal from the ship using a dockside crane.
The fire was under control by midnight.
Station Manager Dave Bond said: “This was a small fire on board the ship. We worked with crews at Tilbury Docks to carry out a controlled unloading of the scrap metal and extinguish the fire.”
