CABINET member Amanda Arnold, who has been at the sharp end of much criticism of Conservative policy over adult social care - a major part of her portfolio of responsibility - was delighted to come through the election with the backing of more than 1,000 Ockendon voters.
The young mum, an iconic image of the Conservatives' return to power in the 2004 election, said: "I want to thank the Conservative team and the people of South Ockendon who came out to support me.
"I will continue to work as an effective and efficient ward councillor."
