A long stretch of the M25 is closed in Essex as emergency services are on the scene of a vehicle blaze.

The M25 is closed clockwise between junction 27 for the M11 and junction 28 in Brentwood due to a "serious vehicle fire", according to National Highways.

Traffic was also held on the anti-clockwise carriageway for almost an hour while the air ambulance attended the scene, but has now been released.

The clockwise carriageway remains closed while emergency services finish working at scene.

Severe delays of up to 60 minutes remain in both directions, with three miles of congestion clockwise and four miles anti-clockwise.

National Highways traffic officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.
