DRIVERS are facing severe delays this evening with the A127 and A13 both "gridlocked" amid train strikes and roadworks

AA is reporting severe delays on the major south Essex roads with traffic heavier than normal on the A127 from Noak Hill to Rayleigh.

The traffic maps show congestion at Fairglen interchange to Stanford-le-Hope, Billericay turn-off and Rettendon Turnpike.

The long delays on the A13 Southend-bound are between Stanford-le-Hope and Sadlers Farm.

There are no c2c services running today as train drivers strike as part of a long-running pay dispute. Meanwhile, Greater Anglia is running a reduced service.

There are also reports of a lane closure in place on the A13 from Sadlers Farm to Tarpots due to Essex and Suffolk Water works.

Essex County Council's traffic control is reporting severe delays on these two major roads as well as the A130 and roads around Benfleet, Rayleigh, Wickford and Basildon.
