A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis after a drugs bust in south Essex.
Essex Police officers carried out a warrant near King George’s Field in Tilbury after receiving intelligence about drug production at the address.
When officers entered the property, about 25 suspected cannabis plants were found as well as drug paraphernalia, Essex Police said.
A 36-year-old man from Tilbury has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and remains in custody.
Ch Insp Tony Atkin said: “This is a great result from our officers, who continue to prevent drug dealers from making money by exploiting vulnerable people.
“Despite the damage that drugs cause to our communities, we are still dealing with people who think cannabis is a harmless plant. This is not the case and we have found that drug use fuels other forms of crime.
“We will continue to work hard to tackle drug related criminality. I encourage anyone who has suspicions about drug use in their area to contact us, so that we can build a picture and continue to conduct warrants such as these.”
