A man has been charged in connection with a serious incident at a c2c railway station which left two people injured.

Police had been called to reports of a group of people involved in a fight at Chafford Hundred station around 8.15pm on Thursday.

Two people were found injured but, thankfully, their injuries were not described as life-threatening.

Warrants were carried out in Chafford Hundred and Grays overnight on Saturday into Sunday and two men were arrested.

One of those men – 25 year-old Matthew Page, of Grenville Road, Chafford Hundred – has now been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public space.

He was due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court today.

The other man arrested – a 53 year-old from Grays – has been released on bail until 2 September.
