The big picture: Powerful crime thriller introducing us to Jacques Mesrine who became one of Europe's most notorious gangsters. Handsome and charming, Mesrine (Vincent Cassel) has returned home after war service. Attracted by the glamour and easy money of 1960s' Paris and mentored by Guido (Gerard Depardieu), he soon rises up the criminal ladder. After pulling off an audacious heist, Mesrine and his lover (Cecile de France) flee to Canada but the opportunity of one big payout lures him out of hiding.
