A MORE than £34,000 haul, including a car, was stolen by burglars.
The crooks forced their way into the house in High Road, Fobbing, before searching the house.
Once inside they stole the keys to a blue Landrover Discovery, which they then drove off. The burglars also stole cash.
Detectives are now probing the break-in and are appealing for witnesses.
Laura Anderson, spokeswoman for Thurrock police, said: “This must be extremely upsetting and inconvenient for the victim, who was not only burgled, but now has to suffer the effects of not having a vehicle.
“We would ask homeowners to work with us by keeping all accessible windows and doors secure, and leave keys in a safe place, away from window and doors.”
Witnesses to the break-in, which happened between 11pm on Sunday, August 30, and 8am on Bank Holiday Monday, can contact detectives at Tilbury CID on 0300 3334444 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
