STAFF at the Thurrock Marks and Spencer store have raised more than £20,000 for Macmillian Nurses- making them the company’s top fundraisers in the eastern region.
The funds were raised in 125 days as part of the retailer’s 125th birthday celebrations.
In-store initiatives in Thurrock included a 125-product raffle, cake sales and a trip from Southend to Thurrock which saw ten members of staff travelling for free and by any means, and raising money on the way.
To celebrate their success, Neil Hyslop, Divisional Director for Simply Food and Hospitality and Franchise, visited the store to meet the team.
Mr Hyslop said: “All of our employees have really pulled out the stops to get behind the 125 Fundraising Challenge, but the Thurrock store deserves a special mention for being the top fund raiser in the East.
“I’m sure that Macmillan Nurses is delighted with the £20,022 that has been raised and it’s been great to be able to congratulate everyone personally for their efforts.”
Stephen Russell, Marks & Spencer Thurrock Store Manager added: “We're extremely pleased with the amount of money we've raised for Macmillan Nurses.
“The team has done a fantastic job in thinking up fun and creative fundraising activities and we hope that the money will help the charity continue their important work in the area.”
