HAVING moved from Thurrock to Lincolnshire two years ago, we returned for a short visit last week. We were interested to read in Thurrock Gazette that the council was contemplating going to a three bin system.
We have had this for some time here and it is very successful, one bin for recycling (cardboard, paper and tin cans), another for garden waste, and a third for general rubbish.
One week they collect recycling and garden waste, the next week, general rubbish.
We find the recycling bin has the most in it, general rubbish very little.
The men collect on Good Friday too, and at Christmas they only have Christmas Day and Boxing Day off unlike Thurrock, so your collection rota is soon back to normal.
Best wishes to all our old friends. – Kathy and Barry Sheppard, Coningsby, Lincolnshire.
