THURROCK Council wants to know what parents think of Sex and Relationship Education in the borough’s schools.
A special panel, made up of three councillors and a member of the public, has been set up to carry out a review of SRE in Thurrock.
Members have been speaking with young people but want to hear parents’ views too.
Cllr Danny Nicklen, chair of the panel, said: “We have been working hard to talk with residents to ensure we are doing everything possible to ensure young people have access to the best information on sex and relationship education.
“As chair, I have spoken with some of the borough’s young people who have given us an insight to SRE in their schools and some ideas about how it could be improved.
“But we want to hear as many views as possible.
“ If you are a parent and have some comments or suggestions about sex and relationships education in your child’s school please let us know.”
Cllr Nicklen added: “We want to hear from as many people as possible, but particularly parents. The views of residents are crucial to the review and we want to know your opinions, concerns and experiences.”
A consultation is open until Wednesday September 30.
The consultation documents are available online via www.thurrock.gov.uk, clicking on “Consultations” and then selecting Sex and Relationship Education Review.
