A THURROCK taxi driver has had his licence revoked after the council discovered he is banned from driving.
Satinder Gill informed Thurrock Council in June that he had been banned from driving earlier in the year for failing to provide a specimen.
The council’s Public Protection sub-Committee heard last Wednesday that Gill’s private hire licence was immediately suspended.
Members backed the suspension and revoked his licence for at least three years.
Sub-committee chair, Cllr Rob Gledhill, said afterwards: “The council acted immediately to suspend this licence.
“The sub-committee has investigated the situation and then followed up on the initial suspensions to revoke the licence fully.
“We will not tolerate this sort of thing in Thurrock and we will crackdown hard on those who flout our rules and regulations which are there to secure the safety of residents and others who use taxis in our borough.”
