TALENTED singers, dancers and actors from Thurrock Thameside Musical Society have promised to try and put on two shows a year from now – after the success of its latest show Eurobeat.
The troupe recently put on a three-day performance of the spoof Eurovision contest, where the audience could cast votes and get involved with the show held at the Gateway Academy, in Marshfoot Road, Tilbury.
Cast member, Joanne Dean, 39, joined the society 20 years ago and explained because of the success of Eurobeat, the cast are now going to try and put on two shows a year.
Joanne, originally from Orsett, told the Gazette: “Eurobeat was a huge success and great fun.
“We currently have about 30 members but we are always looking for new people who are interested in acting, singing and dancing and also anyone who wants to help behind the scenes. The audience were really able to get involved with Eurobeat – everyone was holding flags and they had to vote with their mobile phones on the acts they wanted to win. It was great.”
The next show society members will be getting their teeth into is a performance of the Wedding Singer, based on the 1998 Adam Sandler film, which will play at the Thameside Theatre, in Orsett Road, Grays, in June and July this year.
The society celebrated its 20th anniversary in June last year with a special anniversary performance of Guys and Dolls at the Orsett Road venue.
The society practices and rehearses at Orsett Village Hall.
