RESIDENTS have “breathed a sigh of relief” after Thurrock Council workers cleared the drains so rainwater could recede and stop their street flooding.
The Gazette reported last week that people living in Bradleigh Avenue were “at the end of their tether” after years of the road being submerged in water when it rained.
Shop worker Ruth Aston, 48 said: “On Monday after all the rain I was really concerned about the amount of water.
“After arriving home a neighbour called me and said ‘look out your window’ and I was really surprised to see that all the water had gone, it seems that the authorities responsible have finally got their acts together.
“We are really pleased and relieved that something is happening now after all these years, we are breathing a sigh of relief. “ A spokesman for Thurrock Council confirmed council workers went to Bradleigh Avenue on Monday and he added that a works programme would be starting later this month to resolve the flooding issues.
