HAPPY Days will be the theme of the next feast and fayre in Horndon On The Hill.
Organisers of the popular annual event, on the weekend of June 25 and 26, will see volunteers dressed as characters from the 80s TV show, which was set in America in the 1950s.
Other fifties personalities and characters will also be making an appearance, including Elvis and characters from the musical Grease.
Entertainment organiser Debbie Spice is on the lookout for acts that will fit in with the fifties theme.
She said: “We have adopted a number of historical themes over the years but with the emphasis this year being on austerity we thought it would be appropriate to focus on the post-war decade.
“Things were tough with rationing and cutbacks, but people had a lot of fun and so many cultural changes took place.”
Stall holders for the fayre are also needed.
Stalls manager Dave Warren added: “It’s a great theme and we are hoping a lot more stall holders offering traditional crafts will sign up to attend this year. We get about 3000-4000 people through the village over the course of the weekend so we can offer them lots of customers.”
The annual Horndon 10k run, which attracts runners from all over Essex, will once again take place on the Sunday.
The first fayre in the village was held in the 13th century, and revived in 1974.
It is organised by a small committee who are always on the look out for more volunteers.
