I COULD hardly believe my eyes while I was reading the Gazette Letters this week.

On May 1, 2009, the Gazette published a letter from myself, suggesting the removal of tolls at peak periods to resolve the terrible congestion at the Dartford crossing.

Could someone have really taken this onboard as an idea? No, I’m just being naive.

The removal of the tolls would change the attitude of thousands of people using the crossing.

It’s not just about getting across for free, it’s about the anger, frustration and the total waste of time and fuel that gets to the average driver.

Remove all of this and the majority of us will arrive at our destinations in a much better frame of mind.

You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to find solutions to most of our problems. The average person who deals with these problems on a daily basis knows the solution, but do people in power listen? Seldom!
