ROBBERS grabbed a wallet from a man as he walked through a dark alleyway.
The two crooks struck in an alley leading off Aveley High Street, where they demanded cash from their victim.
The terrified victim eventually handed over a wallet containing £250 and credit cards.
Detectives are appealing to anyone who was near the alley, which leads to Chichester Close, on Saturday, January 15.
They believe the robbers ran into the High Street between 10.10pm and 10.35pm to make their getaway.
Det Con Paul O’Callaghan, of Grays CID, said: “If anyone saw any figures running down Aveley High Street I’d like to hear from them.
“Some of the shops were closing up at the time so they may have seen something.”
Anyone with information should call Grays police station on 0300 3334444.
