THURROCK Cats’ Protection branch has been revamped and relaunched.

The future looks bright for the branch, which had been on the verge of closure, but now has taken on some new volunteers.

It was officially relaunched by East Thurrock and Basildon Tory MP Stephen Metcalfe, at Hazlewood Cattery, in Stanford-le-Hope, at the weekend.

The Pets At Home store, in the retail park at Lakeside, has adopted the branch as one of its charities for the year and the volunteers from the branch will be holding collections in the store once a month, it will also have an information board in the store.

The branch is looking for someone to come on board as a membership secretary, as well as more volunteers to help out with the collections.

It has urged anyone who wants to help, including businesses who might be able to help with fundraising or donations, to call 08453 712752.

If you would like to give a cat in need a new home, call the branch’s fostering line and homing line on 07950 119672.
