WITH so much choice in almost every store, it’s no surprise that most people don’t know where to start looking for their perfect pair of jeans.
ANGELA POPLETT, Lakeside’s Personal Shopper, is here to share some top tips for finding denim perfection.
“No matter what your size, shape and style, there is a perfect pair out there for you. The golden rule is to check the pockets before you buy.
"No pockets or small pockets will generally make your bum look bigger and high pockets will lengthen the look of your leg.
"Big pockets can make the bum look smaller but, like detailing, can also draw attention to that part of your body.
“For men there are two main style choices: loose fit and straight leg.
"The fit of Ben Sherman’s jeans is just fantastic – and the price point isn’t bad, either. Their loose fit range is called ‘Big Beat’ and comes in a mid (£60) or dark (£55) wash; their straight leg range is called ‘True Icon’ and comes in four different shades (£55-60). For an alternative straight leg pair, Levi’s ‘Classic 501’ is worth a try. “For ladies with curvy pear or hourglass shapes, Miss Selfridge has the answer with a high-waisted, wide leg pair with a side zip. They come in a 70s-inspired washed out mid-blue and they’re ideal if you’re looking to spend about £40.
“If skinny jeans are more your style, then be brave and go for a high-waisted pair: thick quality denim from Warehouse; ‘High Sqin’ from H&M; or 3-button jeans from Miss Selfridge are my favourites. If you prefer a low-waisted skinny, Primark and Miss Selfridge have some bargains for you.”
