GRANGE Hill legend Zammo is set to be guest DJ at a huge school reunion clubnight in Grays.

The Skool Disco Reunion is being held at the Civic Hall, in Blackshots Lane, on Saturday, March 31, from 7.30pm to 1am.

Organised by the team behind the Pzaz reunion, the over-21s night will be hosted by “The Voice” DJ Leon Rowland, and will also feature DJs Ian Sellens and Lady P.

As well as playing the biggest anthems from the 1980s and 1990s, Zammo has promised to pose for pictures with any willing fans.

Iconic children’s TV series Grange Hill first aired in 1978 and was watched by more than nine million people at its peak.

Lee MacDonald played Samuel “Zammo” Maguire for five series from 1982 to 1987, and was central to the programme’s most controversial storyline ever, when his character battled a heroin addiction in 1986.

There was public outrage at the show’s plans to introduce a “junkie” character, but the storyline raised a lot of awareness of drug-related issues, and saw the cast’s single “Just Say No” chart at number five and raise more than £100,000 for the Standing Conference on Drug Abuse.

The cast was even invited to the White House by America's First Lady, Nancy Reagan.

Skool Disco Reunion promoter, Stuart Whiffen, said the event promises to be a good night out.

He said: “Grays has very few venues for the over-21s crowd and the Civic Hall seems to tick all the boxes for the older clubber.

“This night will be a huge reunion party for all those that grew up and went to schools in and around Grays and it’s going to be hilarious to see Zammo on stage playing all the tunes too.”

Tickets are £10 and are available on the door, or in advance by calling the box office on 0845 3005264.
