MAY sees the arrival of two comedy legends at the Civic Hall in Grays.
Jim Davidson will be at the venue, in Blackshots Lane, on Wednesday, May 9, from 7.30pm with his adults only show.
The OBE is best known for his series the Jim Davidson Show, as well as being Bruce Forsyth’s successor as host of the Generation Game.
He also starred in TV sitcoms Up the Elephant and Round the Castle and Home James, and appeared in the third series of Hell’s Kitchen.
Tickets for his stand up show are £20 each.
Hot on Davidson’s heels is Freddie Starr, who brings his show to the Civic on Friday, May 18, from 7.30pm.
Starr rose to fame in the 1970s and was recently on TV in the last series of I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.
The 68-year-old had to leave the jungle after suffering a severe allergic reaction and collapsing.
In the early 1960s, Starr was the lead singer of the Merseybeat pop group The Midnighters, promoted by the manager of the Beatles, Brian Epstein.
He got his big break on TV after being discovered on the talent show Opportunity Knocks, as part of the comedy/beat act Freddie Starr and the Delmonts.
In 1970 he appeared on the Royal Variety Performance.
By 1972, he was one of the main performers in the TV show Who Do You Do, as well as a regular in Joker's Wild. From there he went on to star in his own series.
Tickets for his show are £20, reduced to £17 for senior citizens. The show is adults only.
