THURROCK raised thousands for Sport Relief with a host of events up and down the borough.
Around 360 people turned out for the Sport Relief mile at Belhus Park on Sunday, with runners completing one, three or six miles around the football pitches, with many in fancy dress.
The money is raised is still being counted.
Pupils at Ormiston Park Academy in Aveley raised £300 with mile runs in fancy dress, a Glee performance, and a row ride of more than 1,000 miles in the school hall.
At Lakeside Shopping Centre a flash mob raised more than £300.
Shoppers were stopped in their tracks Rock Choir members unexpectedly performed ‘Dancing in the Street’ as part of a synchronised flash mob across the UK.
At the Gateway Academy in Tilbury 20 students took part in a cycle ride to Tilbury Fort, the funds raised are still being counted.
Thurrock and Basildon College Pre-school raised £766 with egg an spoon races, hula-hoop fun and obstacle courses.
They also had a guess the baby competition for parents and carers to guess the member of staff from their old baby photos, and the children helped make cakes to sell.
