PURFLEET Heritage and Military Centre is celebrating the role of the armed services with a special free event on Sunday.
From 10am to 4.30pm at the centre, in Centurion Way, there will be a host of acitivities, for including a cannon firing, a display of military vehicles, the Bretons Entertainers, a display by the Royal Lifeboat Institute rescue team on the River Thames, as well as a tombola and stalls.
Second World War veteran Ron Bayford, from Grays, will also be at the event, signing copies of his book about his wartime experiences in the RAF “The Adventures of Binkie’ Bayford”.
The Purfleet Beacon will also be lit during the event, and there will be a special bus available to transport visitors between the museum and the Royal Opera House Production Park throughout the day.
